Joe Derry, Joe was born and
raised in small town America, Van Wert, Ohio. He caught the entertainment
bug at an early age performing for family and neighbors plus local talent
showcases. After he'd explored every speech and acting course his high
school offered, he luckily nabbed a great role with the very prominent
Van Wert Civic Theatre. An eye-opening experience!!
He left Ohio soon after high school and moved to Los Angeles to became
a bartender, while on the side, experimenting with writing his own material
and performing standup at various comedy clubs.
Leaving L. A. some 10 years later, Joe moved to Denver to begin a
14 year career behind the camera as an engineer/operator/technician
for some local cable and television stations including TCI and Denver's
WB2. Maybe once a year he'd have a chance to get into a play, but work
always seemed to take up most of his time. Joe walked away from that
career in May of 2001 to pursue his real passion full time. Acting.
Besides participating in several plays including, "Damn Yankees,"
"Plaza Suite," and "The Altos, Like The Sopranos Only Lower," with a
few of Denvers theatre companys, Joe's done radio/tv commercials and
voice-overs. Additionally, he has 3 independent films to his credit,
"Forever For Now," "The Mission," and "La La Land."
And now.........to be a part of a concept so original and innovative,
he couldn't be happier to be a member of of "Citys Edge" cast.
