Orthogenesis Trivia: Editing

Focused on creating the most powerful ending for the film, director/editor Berg broke with traditional film methodology and edited Orthogenesis starting with the last scene in the film, working backwards toward the beginning.

This gave composer Dave Mitchell the most time possible to construct the dramatic, orchestral score that is heard at the end of the film. It also gave Berg the most time to contemplate the ending of the film, and, as he says, "kept me focused on where I was heading with the film emotionally, and actually inspired me to work through issues with earlier scenes as the edit continued."
