Orthogenesis Trivia: The Score

Composer Dave Mitchell (ASCAP) phrased two fundamental themes in the score of Orthogenesis; one for Ayden and one for Ayden's mother. Written in the same key, they are actually a variation of one another that can be heard to transition seamlessly throughout the film. The basic version of Ayden's Theme was composed moments after Dave finished reading the script, long before any finished footage was ready to be scored.

The "orchestral" strings heard at several points in the film (most poignantly at the end) are really Dave's masterful manipulation of his Kurzweil.

Some of the special sounds and effects heard in Orthogenesis were created by Jeff Rona ("Traffic", "Black Hawk Down", and "Mothman Prophesies"). Other effects were sampled from real life events and manipulated into specialty sounds in the studio during post-production.
